Coffee Shop of Horrors

This year I've been making my way through indie coffee companies and small roasters, sampling different flavors when I find sample sizes available. My next company is going to be Coffee Shop of Horrors, which has a 10% off sale going on at the moment. I love that they have cheaper samples available for almost half the cost other companies sell samples for; 2 ounces is really enough to tell if you like a flavor or not.

Poems for Lizzo

Plenty of Lizzo's fans are loving her little twerk (I say little because it was literally seconds long) at the Lakers game this week and Amanda Stein showed her appreciation in a poem on Twitter that has to be shared. In her poem, Stein points out that the nudity that we're accustomed to seeing on a daily basis is generated for the male gaze and not for women to enjoy nor women representing themselves.

Review: Shirataki Noodles

Last week I shared a few of the new keto foods that I've been trying lately. Many have been terrible letdowns, but some have been excellent. My husband made me some of those shirataki noodles this week and I was incredibly impressed with them! The cost isn't the best, especially when you're used to paying a buck for spaghetti, but if you're getting pasta that actually tastes like pasta and not crunchy veggies, maybe another couple of dollars isn't so bad.

Impeaching 45

Two articles of impeachment are being brought against Doland Trump and wherever you look there are different stories. Fox says that the "needle's not moving" since the majority of the country doesn't want to impeach him. That's exactly what Fox WOULD say. Other outlets have high hopes, especially since there are more than two things that Trump's done that would qualify for impeachment in the first place.

You Think You Know Me

Games that have you guess which person is most likely to do what or which answer a person will choose are all the rage, but get to know you games will always have a special place in my heart. This one called You Think You Know Me looks like a lot of fun to play with people you're close to. Cards give you a pretty simple question to answer about the person, but do you really know how they would answer?

Golden Age Comics

While I do have a lot of comic lovers on my shopping list, I am probably the biggest comic fan in my circle of family and friends. I'm the annoying one who says, "That's not how it was in the comic!" when we watch Avengers movies. Honestly I've gotten much more laid back about it over the years and I've really appreciated the different stories the MCU has given us, but I digress. If you need to find items for your comic lover in Seattle, Golden Age Comics will hook you up.

Marissa Meyer is Going on Tour!

In 2018, I feel head over heels with Marissa Meyer's The Lunar Chronicles. Since then I've been reading all of her books, and while I've liked many, those remain my favorites. I was overjoyed to hear that the books are getting new covers next year and Meyer is going on tour to promote them. There will be a stop about an hour away from me and I'm definitely going to try to buy a book and get her autograph.

Snowflake Crafts for Teens

All jokes about snowflakes aside, it's the time of year to celebrate actual snowflakes! I love snowflakes and am a sucker for any photo of them up close. I recently saw one of them on a horse and thought it was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. Next week, we have another teen crafternoon at my house and I'm thinking snowflakes would make a great non-denominational winter craft for all of these kids to do.

Introduction to The Dead

A lot of parents enjoy sharing their love of music with their kids and teenagers, and I'm no different. We like to dive into an artist, playing a bunch of their songs and looking up different facts, videos and information about them. Many times, this is simple, especially if it's just one artist, but with a group as longstanding as the Dead, it can be tricky.

Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

As a native of St. Louis, there are some things that I love that aren't for everyone. Toasted ravioli? The hidden gem Monte Bello's has the best if that's what you're after, although I also must suggest the garlic goodness of Salt & Smoke. Provel cheese? Yeah, most non-natives hate it, but I'd eat Imo's every week if I could! But when it comes to Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, a St.

All The Cat Drama

All of my cats are fabulous and I wouldn't trade them for anything... but I have one who's as timid as can be and another who likes to bully her. I hate seeing my cream-and-white Pumpkin cower while my long-haired tortie, Sally, chases her, smacks her and torments her. The other day Sally swiped a chunk of fur! It's not something that happens all day (I work from home), but it's bad enough to where I try to separate them if I'm gone, and if Sally's in a room Pumpkin will almost always avoid going in that room.

Dissing Lizzo But Not Cheerleaders? Your Fatphobia Is Showing

Everyone freaking out over Lizzo twerking during a Lakers game needs to take Taylor Swift's advice and calm down. You saw her butt cheeks? Wow, we've been seeing cheerleader butt cheeks for years and years. You think it's terrible for the children? I sure hope you also think that violence in video games, violence in the NFL and our racist, xenophobic president are also terrible for the children. Do you complain about those things as well? Or is this just because Lizzo is

DIY Gifts For Gardeners

With so many gardeners in my life, I'm racking my brain to find the best holiday gift ideas for them. I love to make handmade gifts, either as the main gift or along with something I've purchased, and I thought some seed bombs might be fun this year, but only for the people who have told me what they plan on planting. I was thinking making some seed paper might also be a fun project.

Experience Gifts For The Holidays

As the holidays rapidly approach, a lot of us have gifts on our minds, especially for our partners or people we're dating. It can be a challenge to find the perfect gift for a romantic partner, though, especially if you've got one of those people who doesn't feel like they need much, already "has everything," or another "hard-to-buy-for" type of people on your hands. That's when an experience gift comes in handy!
